Dreams in Motion: Angela White on the Power of Action
By James Harley|August 13, 2020|Los Angeles Wire
The pursuit of a dream begins not with the creation of goals and aspirations but with taking that first step in moving forward. In other words, dreaming is easy. However, taking action is not.
True enough, there is a thin line between waiting for opportunities and making opportunities. And according to Angela White, a well-seasoned film producer, author, and motivational speaker, that line is where all the magic happens. So unless we are willing to cross boundaries and step out of our comfort zones, none of our dreams will ever come to fruition. Destiny awaits, but to get there, we have to toughen up, build momentum, and then get moving.
While most influencers and other media personalities in Hollywood endeavor to acquire a greater following nationwide, Angela takes pride in having a purpose that goes deeper than getting the spotlight. For her, what matters the most is the meaningful legacy she wishes to leave in the entertainment industry.
Having been featured on Fox News, Sirius XM Radio, TBN, and ABC News, Angela has served as a trailblazer and mentor for thousands in the media world. And as she continues to align with her mission, she becomes an impetus for other people’s success in their respective careers.
Aside from her fierce determination and go-getter mindset, another thing that helped Angela succeed in the realm of media and entertainment is her solid educational background. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware and another degree in Master of Arts in Political Science from Rutgers University. On top of that, she also obtained a Juris Doctorate degree from the New York Law School.
But instead of becoming a lawyer, Angela surprised everyone by being a manager for comedians and other comedic actors in Hollywood. And because of this detour in her career, she was able to produce comedy shows that catapulted her to becoming the series creator and executive producer of The Comedy Underground Series, one of the first original comedy stand-up shows from the Urban Movie Channel, previously known as RLJ Entertainment.
With all her hard work paying off, Angela now heads her own production company, Silver Lining Entertainment, which produces films and television series. The company also runs an educational platform, Backstage Pass to the Movie Industry, that provides business strategy, coaching, mentorship, and online courses on surviving the entertainment industry.
Most recently, Angela launched Dreamers with Purpose, which is a non-profit organization that assists people of color, women, and those who are financially disadvantaged. As the first African American woman to produce and own a production company that released a theatrically faith-based film, entitled “A Question of Faith,” Angela continues to open doors of opportunity for people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
Moreover, Angela’s latest book, “The Secret to Creating a Winning Demo Reel,” educates actors on the steps to be taken in creating a workable and successful demo reel that will help one acquire more work by booking more auditions.
Since Angela is always on the lookout for opportunities to expand her horizons, there is no telling how far she will go.
Anyone can sit back and talk about their grand plans and million-dollar ideas. But if there is one thing that Angela has taken away from her success journey, it is that action is what sets the dreamers and achievers apart. While high ambitions are remarkable, it is pointless to bank on them unless they are backed with a sense of all-out movement.
With everything that she has accomplished for herself and the industry, Angela invites everyone to get up, take their dreams off the shelves, and start taking action. A world of endless possibilities is theirs for the taking.
